She is pursuing her masters degree and a dream to teach the next generation what she has learned during her 20+ years in communications. Her current research interests include representations of feminism in children’s media, and how artificial intelligence influences fine art. Prior to grad school, she recently served as an Adjunct Professor at Washington State University Vancouver, teaching public relations and marketing classes. In her previous PR life, Carrie co-owned a public relations and web agency in Portland, Oregon called Little Green Pickle. At its height, the agency provided public relations, influencer engagement, event, creative and web services for 30+ exciting food and beverage brands in the Pacific Northwest and around the country. She also co-founded the Feast Portland food and drink festival in 201. The festival welcomed 20,000 attendees and 100 chefs at 40 events over four days. Carrie’s experience in starting these two companies drew on her 10-year career at Food Network where she served as Vice President of Public Relations. While there she headed up all consumer press, talent relations, digital PR, social media, charitable efforts, and launched successful shows for now ubiquitous celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, Ina Garten, Alton Brown, and Duff Goldman. Carrie helped create the New York City Wine & Food Festival with Share Our Strength, The Food Bank for NYC and Southern Wines & Spirits, which continues to raise over $1 million to help end childhood hunger each year. She also co-initiated Food Network's first public affairs program, "Good Food Gardens," that brought teaching gardens to underprivileged kids and families in schools and community centers. Named one of the Portland Business Journal's "40 Under 40" and one of The Daily Meal's "60 (Plus) Coolest People in Food," Carrie is now exploring Syracuse with her wife, two kids and a small chihuahua pug. |
